About Banana Shakti
Srirangam Banana Farmer Producer Company Ltd (SBFPCL) is owned and managed by women farmers of Andanallur and surrounding villages of Srirangam Taluka (Tiruchirappalli District). The FPO has been promoted by Tamil Nadu Rural Transformation Project, a World Bank aided project, and has a total membership of over 1,300 farmers. The organization is involved in various activities such as Organic Inputs Production and Marketing, Banana Micronutrient Manufacturing, Traditional Rice Cultivation, Marketing of value added food products and making handicrafts from banana fibre. Banana Shakti, one of its products, is a micronutrient mixture which provides all essential nutrients for healthy growth of banana plant. The product formulation has been developed by National Research Centre for Banana, Tiruchirappalli after several years of research and its usage has provided good improvement in fruit quality and yield.
